Description: "Philodendron Landscape" is a painting of a landscape viewed from inside, looking through a window and through a philodendron. The indoor plant forms a silhouette, framing the landscape outside. The colors are Southwest colors, turquoise, peach and earth tones. The style is impressionistic with visible brush strokes. The paint is applied in layers with complementary colors overlayed in many places. The title of the painting and the signature of the artist is in the lower left corner.

Artist's Comment: It was interesting to paint an "outer" landscape seen through an "inner" landscape. I changed the silhouette of the philodendron to white as a complement of the usual dark colors that would be seen against the light-filled outdoor scene. I also painted complementary colors in layers on top of each other. This sets up a vibration of the color that is hard to duplicate on a computer screen.
