These beautiful portraits from photographs are
painted in oil on canvas. The canvas is stretched
on wooden stretchers and painted on the edges
so that they can be immediately hung on the wall,
with or without a frame.
Ordering Portraits:
Your order can be placed online and payment made through PayPal or you can print a form, Portrait Order Form using the print menu from your browser. Fill it out and send it through the mail with your photo and a personal check, money order, or cashier check. If you decide to purchase your portrait online, you can email your digital photo to .
Photo Selection for Portraits:
The photo should be your own and not from a professional photographer who owns the copyright. It can be either color or black and white, should be a clear sharp representation, and minimally 640 pixels wide. Candid shots are great and if the photo is of several people, the artist can focus the portrait on certain individuals. While the artist cannot make major changes such as removing 40 pounds, minor changes are possible, such as eliminating warts or smoothing unruly hair.
Portrait Commission Process:
When we have received your photo, with any additional instructions, and payment has cleared; then we can proceed to arrange the composition. The photo is altered, cropped, and the background is simplified so that it is suitable as a portrait. We will then email this composition to you for your approval. If this portrait "sketch" is okayed by you, then the artist will paint it on canvas. If the composition is not to your liking, we will try to change it at this stage. If it seems that we aren't able to reach a compromise, then your money will be completely refunded, including the shipping.
Note:
- You are welcome to send paint samples or fabric swatches so that the artist can match it for your decor.
- The canvas is gallery wrapped around wooden stretchers and stapled in back so that the sides are finished. It is ready to hang without a frame.
- A pet is priced the same as a person.
- Paintings of a home, still life, scene or landscape would be priced the same as a portrait.
- The artist reserves all rights to the artwork; please contact the artist if you wish to copy the portrait.
- The minimum amount of time for completion is 3 weeks.
- The artist may adjust the size to accomodate different compositions.
- The Portraits are shipped UPS and the tracking number will be provided to you through email.
- Kansas residents are charged 7.5% at checkout.
